link For Analysis Of Advertisements
Making observations: The advective of this advertisement is to sell the idea that Coke products are American and relaxing, and represent rural american views. There is a male person and a dog sitting on a Jeep out in front of a barn. It appears to be natural lighting and is looks like it is taken outside. It looks very relaxed. They used a natural color barn and a bright red jeep and white lettering that says "red, white and you," and is white on red. The text used in the Logo is large and script.Purpose of the Ad: The purpose of the advertisement is to sell the soft drink Coca Cola. It is targeting proud americans by using the rural homeland setting, dog and the Phrase " red white and you" is a take off of "red white and blue. I thought it was a good ad because is makes you feel like it is a true american product, and by drinking it you are showing your spirit for the USA.Assumptions: It is trying to make the assumption that you are a better American or a true American if you drink Coke. It appeals to many classes of people, hunters, yuppies, farmers, rural people, service personnel.Consider the consequences: This really does not have any serious social consequences, it really sells the idea of what a relaxing, american product Coke is. It does not leave anyone with an unrealistic expectation of the product, but more of a feelings. When you look at an ad as a citizen you think about the impact it may have on the people viewing it. Is it responsible advertising and will it have a negative impact on any group of people. When you just view it as a consumer, you are looking at the way it makes you feel and how it impacts what you think and perceive.
Comparison to M.M.S: This does draw attention, it is appealing to the eye and has a large demographic. Coke does satisfy a need for those who drink it regularly however, the ad does not portray a need. If the advertisement is trying to visualize that drinking Coke makes you more American, then it does accomplish that and may provide a means of satisfaction.2.
Making observations: The adjective of this ad is to sell to men, because its a beautiful, young, black women. She is holding a beer and the text refers to the good life. It is a bud light blue background and she is wearing bright pink which makes her look very feminine and she has a low cut shirt on. The lighting is artificial, the writing is in big bold letters saying "Life is good" (in big white letters) and "live the good life with Bud Light" (in smaller white letters). They are really trying to capture a sexy women, holding a Bud Light very simply. They kept things simple to get a point across.Purpose of the ad: The product they are trying to sell is Bud Light Beer. They are targeting men because they used a sexy beautiful women. They are trying to also attract black men. I think it is effective if you are a man. The text they use is simple and bold, that drinking this beer will make the you feel like you have "the good life". I think it is effective. I think Bud Light does a good job in general with their advertising, because they target specific groups while including other groups.Assumptions: It make the assumption that sexy women like Bud Light and if you want the "good life", and a beautiful sexy women like the one in the ad, then you will drink Bud Light too. There is a black women in the picture, so they could be sending a message that black women are bold and sexy. So if you are a women maybe you think that you will be more attractive if you drink Bud Light.Consider the consequences: This does have certain social consequences, because it says to the consumer, that drinking beer is beautiful and sexy. Also that if you want the good life, then drinking this beer will help you obtain it. This is fiction and leads people to believe that their life is better when drinking, and people should really learn to make themselves happy and not look for beer to do it. I think it does send an unrealistic expectation, because drinking beer will not make you look like this girl or make you life better. It is not socially irresponsible, because the consumer should watch ads closely to determine if they are unrealistic and just trying to sell a product. I think you can look at this ad as a citizen and be concerned that it could send the wrong message about what is sexy. But from a consumer standpoint, it is just advertising using pretty girls, which has been done to attract men for years and it very socially accepted.M.M.S comparison:This ad is trying to draw the attention of men in general, however since they use a black women, they are also targeting black men. There has always been a physical and emotional attraction between men and women, and this advertisement tries to draw in the consumer using that attraction. The combination of beer plus a beautiful women, equals a good life tells the consumer that they need only act on buying the beer to achieve this.3.
Making observations: Te adjective of this commercial is to make people believe that they will feel more important if they purchase this car and that they are in a different social class. This advertising has a male in a tuxedo and wearing a racing helmet and racing gloves. In the back is a sleek Mercedes Benz. The ad is in black and white, but includes many shades of grey and uses artificial light. They uses many shadows and light, especially around the car and it does a good job of making the car stand out even though they have it in the background. They use a classic style of tuxedo, that looks really rich. The text is small and basic lettering done in black lettering. The logo is in white at the bottom of the ad. They use some very cool use of clean lines and relaxed lighting.Purpose of the ad: This is an ad for Mercedes Benz E-class premium sport car. This advertisement is targeting people who want to drive something rich, classy and sporty. Something that makes them feel like they are different and special compared to those who drive other cars. Using the tux on the driver makes it look like you can get the feel of a race car but have others look at you like you are classy and important. I think the ad is appealing and probably does work. If people are looking for a car to make them feel more important or special, I think they would be attracted to this car company.Assumptions: It makes the assumption that only classy, rich people drive this car or people who are important like race car drivers. It makes the assumption that you are going places where you can wear a tux if you drive a car like this one.It makes people feel like they are more classy or important if they drive this car. I think in general people who drive Mercedes Benz do think they have a certain importance about them. It is unrealistic, because a car does not make you more important or classy. However in out society, people do tend to judge others by the car you drive. For instance, if you drive a Mercedes Benz you must be rich compared to someone driving and old rusty chevy.Consider the consequences: It think it does not have a serious negative social consequence, however it is somewhat unrealistic. I think it is more about peoples priorities then about true social standings. For instance, someone may go into great debt to own a car like this to empress people, but then not have enough money to pay for a nice home. Although it is unrealistic in what it can do for you, I don't think I would call the car company irresponsible in its advertising. Whether you are a citizen or a consumer I don't think it would matter with this product. There is nothing dangerous or harmful about owning or buying this car. Maybe just the kind of bad priorities we place on things.M.M.S comparison: The point of this commercial is to grab the attention of those that feel an expensive sporty car make you more important, and it is well worth the money. This satisfies ones need to feel like they stand out, like the represented racer in the tux. Visually the advertisement is trying to call you to action saying, " come buy this racy sports car, and people you look at you like you are someone important". The feeling it gives you is more important then the actually car, which is why the car is in the background.
